Mavi Contemporary Art showcases, Fine Art, paintings, sculptures, glass photography, original prints and original ceramics, from a select group of contemporary artists. Our original works are focus on featuring local Artist in the gallery already considered a “must see”.

The Gallery will have a monthly reception on the 1st Saturdays of the Month. Will also be scheduling performance Artists, who will Create an entire painting as you watch live accompanied to Music.

Mavi and Elizabeth Ashe plan to bring in artist from around the world besides supporting our wonderful local artists.

Mavi

Namesake and Business Manager of the gallery. Mavi is a life-long artist and strong supporter of the arts. She has decades of small business successes in her repertoire and is the broker agent/owner of Better Homes and Land. A figurative abstract oil painter, her work has recently been exhibited in the Tacoma area and France. She has a budding interest in performance art. Mavi previously lived in the south of France, where she was influenced afresh by the eternal works of Picasso, Matisse, Miro and Chagall. Upon her return to Washington, Mavi studied art briefly at UW – Tacoma, when her love for the South Sound took off. Mavi has donated paintings to several local charity auctions.

Susan Massey

Susan Massey moved to Tacoma to study art after receiving a degree in Marketing from the University of California, Long Beach. In 2005 Massey received a Certificate in Drawing from Gage Academy of Fine Art in Seattle and continued her studies from 2006-07 in the Drawing & Painting Atelier at Gage. My focus is primarily works on paper in graphite and carbon dust. In addition to working at Mavi Contemporary Art, she also works at the Museum of Glass. She teaches drawing and exhibits throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Elizabeth Ashe

Director of the gallery. Elizabeth is a bi-coastal artist, based in Gig Harbor and Washington, D.C. Elizabeth's art combines poetry and sculpture into installations. Her range includes land art, installation, cast bronze, and painting. Elizabeth holds an MFA from the Maryland Insititute College of Art.
